Guarding the other crewmembers of the Theorem is actually closest to the original purpose which he was constructed for, which is serving as a bodyguard for his creator Dr. Mearsheimer. Taking into account that Jarilo-VI's war with the Anti Matter Legion was still current at the time (and the type of firepower that Svarog was built with), this was likely a demanding task. Despite his innate and obvious ability at computing complex data with a greater level of speed and efficiency than a human, Svarog has always viewed himself as a protector and not the one thinking.
Edict: The Last Pilgrim
Svarog's journey has been long, and is still has long left to go. The time he has spent with his daughter Clara is a small fraction of Svarog's vast centuries-long existence, but has already changed him immeasurably, from a cold machine who could not comprehend the the idea of an "irreplaceable" concept to someone who knows what it is: family. Svarog has continually shown that he is still changing and adapting from the influences around him (sometimes even against his conscious judgement), from the Trailblazers to his fellow Underworlders. Despite his age he can still do much more, and his duty is far from over.
Powers:
He packs a mean right hook but that is less of a superpower and more taking advantage of being a 9 foot tall robot with metal fists.
Capable of remote and invisible command of other, more primitive automatons through their shared connection to the same database, which is maintained by him to include all automaton robots in Belobog. The programming of all automatons is fundamentally a branch from the source code developed by the IPC which is currently in use by their own robots, but this relationship goes in both directions. It is implied that IPC representatives with control over this source code could override him in turn.
Can fire a laser from a
He can also shoot a barrage of guided missiles from launchers on his back (they somehow pass nondestructively through his coat but not through their targets). There is also a much more extensive missile bombardment that seems to require some preparation time and only appears as his "super move" when he's fought as a boss by the player.
As the Ascendants deemed your character worthy of being on this exploration voyage, what qualities did they observe in your character that they found appropriate for the mission?
Svarog is incorruptible in his devotion to humanity, which is indiscriminate and all encompassing from the scale of the life of an individual human child to the long-term future of civilization. Although this does not make him infallible in his decisions, and he has acted brutally in the past, it was always in service to the vision of ensuring the continuing existence of life on Jarilo-VI. That he is able to deliberately define, based on his own judgement, his interpretation of how to do just that is, in a way, proof of his conviction. There is no reason to have done so unless he felt sincerely motivated desire to save what he could from what he thought was the face of total extinction.
The fact that he could correct and alter course based on a persuasive argument and new presented information (and also admittedly some RPG violence) shows that his dedication to the preservation of life still supersedes any other impulses or biases he may possess. Relatedly, this capacity for change is ironically Svarog's next greatest feature. For a robot with deliberately programmed intent and purpose, who loudly proclaims his robotic nature, Svarog is deeply affected through his compassion for others. Every time when faced with the option he will choose whatever will improve his ability to help others over any notion of pride, and it is this open heart which has allowed him to truly upgrade himself beyond his set parameters.
What is your character's best quality, what is their worst, and how do these two qualities affect each other?
Svarog is held back by deeply-held unambitious disposition. While he views it as acting on pure logic removed from emotion, strictly relying on his own calculated risk projections and cost-benefit assessments gives him a tendency toward acting conservatively, since he will almost never choose an option with lower odds. This goes especially when the potential price is against his purpose of protecting life; in Svarog's mind, it is the foremost imperative to prioritize what will lead to the highest probability of keeping everyone alive even it must come at the expense of quality or freedom of said lives. This results in dilemmas, such as the lack of either the Belabog Underworld.
Svarog's self-proclaimed pure logic can also make it easy to dismiss other viewpoints which arise from emotional organic lifeforms, which can make him unintentionally narrowminded.
During their return trip to Belabog, Svarog remarked to the Trailblazer that although he aided Topaz on the way to her goals, that he ultimately does not consider himself the one who should make decisions which will determine the fate of humans. It was by this logic that he also did not oppose the Trailblazer from confronting her despite this being contrary to the first choice. This can be viewed as acknowledgement of the authority of his creators as a robot, but considering that Svarog is clearly of a human intelligence and emotional attachment in every meaningful way, it is perhaps cowardly to avoid culpability like this instead of asserting agency.
Your character's Edict appears in front of them, and agrees to grant them one wish: what does your character wish for?
After a period of intensely considered construction, Svarog would present a very carefully worded contract to guarantee Belobog's independence so that its fate will be left to the sole will of its own inhabitants. As Clara is included among them, this will ensure that she will be able to grow up and live out her years in a world of her choosing and not one created by others who would wish to subjugate people like her.
The Theorem has broken down, and is drifting toward a black hole. There is very little hope of outside rescue. What does your character do?
Regardless of the likelihood of repairing the ship or evacuating survivors, as long as there is a single other passenger Svarog would stay last. Like every other time he has acted toward his obligation to the preservation of life, Svarog would make the pragmatic choice to prioritize those who still have nonzero chances of living while remaining behind in the position where he is able to contribute the greatest amount of good.
In a final selfish indulgence, Svarog would take measures to preserve and deliver a last message to Clara, conveying news of his termination and his apology for leaving her alone.
